It doesn't say if the 3200 revs is for petrol, diesel or R36. ESP off, gearbox in sport, foot hard on brake, foot hard on accelerator, engine revs stabilise at 3200, foot off brake, pants change. I did a Porsche 911 that way last week (Carrera 4!). Personally, I find it much more satisfying to just carry some speed and sail past in the inside lane as the lights change or the roundabout clears. Some of the guys on the Golf forum have used it and report the satisfactory demolition of various low ranking beemers and chavmobiles. I've never tried it because the GTI is already pretty scary off the mark in S-mode and you look a bit of a prat sitting at the lights with the engine revving at 3000. The answer from the techie was that he believed it was there already and if not working could be easily enabled but half a dozen squirts of it would put you ready for a major service. When I picked up the GTI last year, I asked about launch control. It was enabled on UK Golf's about 2006 and there is no info (that I can find) on when it made it to the Passat and on what models. The general consesus is that VW disabled it ex-factory on GTI's and TT's in the USA because it was blowing up DSG gearboxes (which are flakey enough without making a special effort to destroy them).
